MasterCard
payment method introduced by selfie earlier this year, this is a new security
feature that allows users to verify online transactions using biometric
features such as fingerprints and facial images. The company said that this
feature - called officially Mobile Identity Check, will be rolled out in the
United States at some point in the future.
MasterCard
has now announced that selfie payments will be used for BMO customers. BMO
existing customers will be able to choose to use this service which will allow
them to use the fingerprint sensor or take a selfie to verify their online
payments.
Selfie
mode of payment eliminates the need for users to remember complex passwords and
it also speeds up the process of digitalization. Users cash must download the
application on your phone to take a photo to digitize a map of their facial
features. This map will be kept MasterCard servers and then used as a benchmark
when verification is required to purchase online.
"This
technology beyond the pilot phase is an important moment in the evolution of
payments," said Ajay Bhalla, president of enterprise security and
MasterCard.
