Governments Loved To Shut Down The Internet In 2016 — Here’s Where

Have you thought about it ? We are in 2016 and the government does not allow its citizens to enter the internet by cutting it off.

That’s the finding of an ongoing project from the internet policy advocacy group Access Now. Since
2015, it’s maintained a campaign called #KeepItOn, documenting all known instances in which a government is caught shutting down the internet as a whole for all or part of the country, “throttling” access to speeds so slow as to make it basically unusable, or blocking specific communication methods.

Last year this cut was made at most 15 states , but this number has been increasing a lot this year.
The number is about 60 this year . This has many reasons, for example  The Indian state of Gujarat blocked the internet in mobile phones  for the entire state at pre-planned intervals to prevent students from cheating on exams.

Here we have the stats about the 2016 year for the shutdowns.
