Scientists build nanotubes with diameter 60,000 times smaller than a human hair
Some microbiologists at the University of
Massachusetts Amhest have found a way to build electric wires that are
thousands of times thinner than a human hair and even environmentally friendly.
(They have a 1.5 nm diameter 60,000 times smaller than the human hair).
The secret?
"Microbiological nanotubes" or
filaments protein produced by genetic modifications in certain bacteria.
Scientists manipulate bacteria composing wires in heavy so very Nano small from
natural amino acids.
Dr. Derek R.Lovley, chairman of the team,
said that the wires can be produced easily and move because their material is
quite cheap.
It is believed that these wires widely
used in the medical field because they are biological and will not affect the
pH sensitive sensors used to measure the pulse of the heart or kidney function.

Singapore is apparently looking for other systems of public
transport buses. Two of these autonomous buses will be tested out and they will
transport up to 80 passengers.
Singapore is expected to be offered to public transport,
buses without driver. They are micro buses full but about 12 meters long. The
vehicles will operate on the Singapore Jurong West region, where the Nanyang
Technological University (NTU) is located.
Speaking to Channel NewsAsia, vice president of research
Professor Lam Khin Yong said: "Current efforts all over the world have
been focused on cars. So, this autonomous buses trial is the first of its kind
in Singapore that will be aimed at improving road safety, reduce vehicle
traffic and pollution mitigation.
